To study Smartly

1.Students can frame Time table for different units.

2.In order to avoid monotonous studying which will induce sleep,they can have a break after 10 short answers.

3.After learning they can teach other students so that it will increase their memory and to correct mistakes.

4.They can review the notes taken in the class before reading from the textbook.

5.Mnemonics could help them to remember difficult examples.For example LEO GER represents loss of Electron Oxidation. Gain GER Electron Reduction. OMSGAPSA represents acids like Oxalic acid,Malonic acid, Succinic Acid etc.

6.After reading the text, writing notes and testing our understanding power.

7.Instead of eating all tablets one day,we can take the same tablet 3 days 3 times. Repeated learning of the same topic in different days.

8.Sleep is necessary to remember everything. Avoiding fullnight study

9.Understanding better and Quicker by seeing the You tube videos of the experiment.

10.Increasing Visual memory by making charts and seeing everyday the difficult  concepts.

11.Change of place while studying.

 1.மாணவர்கள் வெவ்வேறு அலகுகளுக்கான நேர அட்டவணையை வடிவமைக்க முடியும்.

 2. தூக்கத்தைத் தூண்டும் சலிப்பான படிப்பைத் தவிர்ப்பதற்காக, 10 குறுகிய பதில்களுக்குப் பிறகு அவர்கள் ஓய்வு பெறலாம்.

 3.கற்ற பிறகு அவர்கள் மற்ற மாணவர்களுக்கு கற்பிக்க முடியும், அது அவர்களின் நினைவாற்றலை அதிகரிக்கும் மற்றும் தவறுகளை சரிசெய்யும்.

 4.அவர்கள் பாடப்புத்தகத்திலிருந்து படிக்கும் முன் வகுப்பில் எடுக்கப்பட்ட குறிப்புகளை மதிப்பாய்வு செய்யலாம்.

 5.நினைவூட்டல்கள் கடினமான உதாரணங்களை நினைவில் வைத்துக் கொள்ள உதவும். எடுத்துக்காட்டாக LEO GER எலக்ட்ரான் ஆக்சிஜனேற்றத்தின் இழப்பைக் குறிக்கிறது.  GER எலக்ட்ரான் குறைப்பைப் பெறுங்கள்.  OMSGAPSA ஆக்ஸாலிக் அமிலம், மலோனிக் அமிலம், சுசினிக் அமிலம் போன்ற அமிலங்களைக் குறிக்கிறது.

 6.உரையைப் படித்து, குறிப்புகளை எழுதி, நமது புரிந்துகொள்ளும் ஆற்றலைச் சோதித்த பிறகு.

 7.அனைத்து மாத்திரைகளையும் ஒரு நாள் சாப்பிடுவதற்கு பதிலாக, அதே மாத்திரையை 3 நாட்கள் 3 முறை சாப்பிடலாம்.  வெவ்வேறு நாட்களில் ஒரே தலைப்பை மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கற்றல்.

 8.எல்லாவற்றையும் நினைவில் வைத்துக் கொள்ள தூக்கம் அவசியம்.  முழு இரவு படிப்பைத் தவிர்த்தல்

 9.பரிசோதனையின் You tube வீடியோக்களைப் பார்ப்பதன் மூலம் சிறப்பாகவும் விரைவாகவும் புரிந்துகொள்வது.

 10. விளக்கப்படங்களை உருவாக்குவதன் மூலமும், கடினமான கருத்துக்களை அன்றாடம் பார்ப்பதன் மூலமும் காட்சி நினைவகத்தை அதிகரித்தல்.

 11.படிக்கும் போது இடம் மாறுதல்.

He was watering the plants in the posh gardens of an International school, heat and dust didn't seem to affect him.

"Ganga Das, Principal Ma'am wants to see you -- right now"...

The last two words of the peon had lots of emphasis on them, trying to make it sound like an urgency.

He quickly got up, washed and wiped his hands and headed towards the  Principal's chamber.

The walk from the garden to the office seemed never ending, his heart was almost jumping out of his chest.

He was trying all the permutation and combination, figuring out as to what has gone wrong that she wants to see him urgently...

He was a sincere worker and never shirked from his duties...

knock knock...

"Madam, you called me?"

"Come inside..." an authoritative voice made him further nervous...

Salt n pepper hair, tied neatly in a french knot, a designer sari-sober and very classic, glasses resting on the bridge of her nose...

She pointed out towards a paper kept on the table...

"Read this"...

"B..but Ma'am I am an illiterate person.

I can not read English.

Ma'am please forgive me if I have done anything wrong... give me another chance... 

I am forever indebted to you for allowing my daughter to study in this school, free of cost... I could have never ever dreamt of such a life for my child.."

And he broke down almost trembling:

"Hold on, you assume a lot...we allowed your daughter because she is very bright and you have been our sincere worker.. Let me call a teacher in, she will read it out and translate it to you... this is written by your daughter and I want you to read this."

Soon enough the teacher was called and she started reading it, translating each line in Hindi...

It read-

"Today we are asked to write about Mother's Day.

I belong to a village in Bihar, a tiny  village where medical and education still seem like a far fetched dream. Many women die every now and then while giving birth. My mother was one of them too, she could not even hold me in her arms. My father was the first person to hold me.. or perhaps the only person.

Everyone was sad.. as I was a girl and I had "eaten up" my own mother.

My dad was instantly asked to remarry but he refused.

My grandparents forced him by giving all logical, illogical and emotional reasons but he didn't budge.

My grand parents wanted a grandson, they threatened him to remarry or else he will be disowned...

He didn't think twice... he left everything, his acres of land.. a good living, comfortable house, cattles and everything that counts for a good lifestyle in a village.

He came to this huge city with absolutely nothing -- but me in his arms. Life was tough, he worked hard day and night.. raised me with tender love and utmost care.

Now I understand why suddenly he developed a dislike for things that I would love to eat when there was only one piece left in the platter.... he would say that he hates eating it and I would finish it considering that he does not like it.... but as I grew older I realised the reason and what sacrifice is all about.

He gave me the best possible comforts  beyond his capacity.

 

This school gave him a shelter, respect and the biggest gift -- an admission to his daughter...

If love and care  defines a mother... then my father fits in there.

If compassion defines a mother, my father fits in well in that category too...

If sacrifice defines a mother, my father dominates that category.

So in nut shell.. if a mother is made of love, care sacrifice and compassion...

 MY FATHER IS THE BEST MOTHER ON EARTH THEN.

On Mother's Day, I would like to wish my father for being the best parent on earth... I salute him and say it with pride that the hardworking gardener working in this school is my father.

I know I may fail this test after my teacher reads this -- but this would be a very small price one would pay towards an ode to the selfless love of my father.

There was a deafening silence in the room... one could only hear soft sobbing of Ganga Das.... 

The harsh sun could not wet his clothes with sweat but soft words of his daughter had soaked his chest with tears.... he was standing there with hands folded..

He took the paper from teacher's hands... held it close to his heart and sobbed.

Principal got up.. offered him a chair, glass of water and said something... but, strangely the crispness of her voice was taken over by a surprising warmth and sweetness....

"Ganga Das.. your daughter is given 10/10 marks for this essay... This is the best essay ever written about Mother's Day in the history of this school. We are having the Mother's Day gala event tomorrow and the entire School Management has decided to invite you as the Chief Guest for the event... 

This is to honour all the love and sacrifice a man can do to raise his children... to show that you do not have to be a woman to be the perfect parent...

And most importantly this is to reinforce/appreciate/acknowledge the strong belief of your daughter in you, to make her feel proud.. to make the entire school feel proud that we have the best parent on earth as stated by your daughter."

"You are a True Gardner, who is not only looking after the gardens, but also nurturing the most precious flower of your life in such a beautiful way...."

“So Ganga Das, will you be our Chief Guest for the event?”

The above is not a just forwarded message but with tears rolling in my eyes I am forwarding.  A really educated smart child.

SMART stands for: Specific, Measurable, Action oriented,  Realistic  and Time bound. 

A SMART goal not only decides what to do, but it also explains how to do it and when it should be finished.  It can track the progress achieved.  At the end of the deadline, decides whether the objective of goal has been achieved or not.

1. Specific:

Your goal must explain the details of what is to be achieved.  It must be well defined in a clear and simple language. 

Bad example-- I wish to study hard.

SMART GOAL-- I will finish 4th chapter of my English book by 9 pm today. 

2. Measurable:

If you cannot measure the progress, then you cannot manage it. If your goal is Measurable, you can judge how much part of your goal has been completed at the end of the deadline. 

Bad example  -- I will give maximum attention to mathematics. 

Good example  -- I will score 80% marks in mathematics in upcoming examination. 

Attention to mathematics  cannot be measured, but you can easily measure  marks scored in mathematics.

3. Action Oriented:

When you know what you should do to achieve your goal, it is easier to achieve.  You must have the action plans to achieve your goal. 

Bad example  -- I will do whatever possible to achieve my goal. 

Smart goal -- I will find out necessary action plans, which are required to achieve the goal and will implement such action plans. 

4.  Realistic:

A goal is unachievable, if it is unrealistic.  Therefore, before setting a goal, judge your true potential.   It is advisable that you should set your next goal reasonably higher than your last achievement but not too much above it. Your next goal should be challenging, but it should also be achievable.   In this way,you can elevate level of your goal gradually. 

Assumption   -- You are usually getting  60% marks in the examinations.

Smart Goal  -- I will score 70% in next examination. 

Unrealistic example  -- I will score 99% marks in next examination 

Do not set too high target, because you will feel latter that it is  unachievable and will loose your dedication.  Unachievable target creates frustration and unwanted stress. 

5.  Time bound:

Goal is a commitment to achieve the target within a certain period.  You must set a definite time frame.  For example, if your goal is to clear a competitive examination, you must set a target when you are going to start the preparation and when you are likely to finish  it. Setting  a time frame helps for the optimum utilization of your precious time.

It's rightly said Smart students do not study special books but study differently.  

They plan their time well. They are very regular and focused in all their activities. Their sharp memory is enhanced because of good concentration.  

These students consider every exercise as a learning activity and are more organized in their thought process.They learn from what they see & what  they hear thus making every moment to learn smartly. 

Studying special books is time consuming and may be stressful whereas studying smart reduces stress and brings better results.

Academic excellence & better skills depend upon how one studies & thinks. 

Here are some study techniques... It's called SQ3R... 

'S' for surveying (getting an overview before detailed study) & total time spent on surveying can be 10℅. 

Next is Questioning... Ability to ask questions to yourself while studying is important for effective learning. Consider this diverse range of questions & ask them as appropriate in the context...conceptual questions/Exploratory questions/Probing questions/comparative questions/Hypothetical questions/Connecting questions so on. 

Then Reading... Actual reading... Improve your style further, by reading difficult matters slowly, light subjects quickly, argumentative & conceptual matters cautiously... Spend 50% of total study time on this segment. 

Then comes Restating... It is the critical step & enhances your memory 3 times... Spend 20% of time. 

Then Reviewing... Repeat the earlier 4 steps/ spend 10%...then is Critical thinking... Apart from studying techniques, you need other skills to think critically about any subject & to facilitate comprehensive learning...

அடுத்தது கேள்வி... படிக்கும் போது உங்களுக்குள் கேள்வி கேட்கும் திறன் பயனுள்ள கற்றலுக்கு முக்கியம்.  பல்வேறு வகையான கேள்விகளைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு, அவற்றைச் சூழலில் பொருத்தமானதாகக் கேளுங்கள்... கருத்தியல் கேள்விகள்/ஆராய்வதற்கான கேள்விகள்/ஆய்வுக் கேள்விகள்/ஒப்பீட்டுக் கேள்விகள்/ அனுமானக் கேள்விகள்/ இணைப்புக் கேள்விகள் போன்றவை.

பிறகு படித்தல்... உண்மையான வாசிப்பு... கடினமான விஷயங்களை மெதுவாகப் படிப்பதன் மூலமும், இலகுவான பாடங்களை விரைவாகப் படிப்பதன் மூலமும், விவாதம் மற்றும் கருத்தியல் விஷயங்களை கவனமாகப் படிப்பதன் மூலமும் உங்கள் பாணியை மேலும் மேம்படுத்துங்கள்... மொத்தப் படிப்பின் 50% நேரத்தை இந்தப் பிரிவில் செலவிடுங்கள்.

பிறகு Restating வருகிறது... இது முக்கியமான படியாகும் & உங்கள் நினைவகத்தை 3 மடங்கு அதிகரிக்கிறது... 20% நேரத்தை செலவிடுங்கள்.

பிறகு மறுபரிசீலனை செய்தல்... முந்தைய 4 படிகளை மீண்டும் செய்யவும்/ 10% செலவழிக்கவும்... பின்னர் விமர்சன சிந்தனை... நுட்பங்களைப் படிப்பதைத் தவிர, எந்தவொரு விஷயத்தையும் விமர்சன ரீதியாக சிந்திக்கவும், விரிவான கற்றலை எளிதாக்கவும் உங்களுக்கு பிற திறன்கள் தேவை.

ಸಮೀಕ್ಷೆಗಾಗಿ 'ಎಸ್' (ವಿವರವಾದ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷೆಯ ಮೊದಲು ಒಂದು ಅವಲೋಕನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುವುದು) ಮತ್ತು ಸಮೀಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯಯಿಸಲಾದ ಒಟ್ಟು ಸಮಯ 10℅ ಆಗಿರಬಹುದು.

ಮುಂದಿನದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ... ಓದುವಾಗ ನಿಮಗೆ ನೀವೇ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ಕಲಿಕೆಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ.  ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂದರ್ಭಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾದಂತೆ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ... ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು/ಪರಿಶೋಧನೆಯ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು/ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು/ತುಲನಾತ್ಮಕ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು/ಊಹೆಯ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು/ಸಂಪರ್ಕ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ.

ನಂತರ ಓದುವುದು... ನೈಜ ಓದುವಿಕೆ... ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಓದುವ ಮೂಲಕ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸುಧಾರಿಸಿ, ಸುಲಭವಾದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ತ್ವರಿತವಾಗಿ ಓದುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಚರ್ಚೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನಾ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ... ಈ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು ಅಧ್ಯಯನದ ಸಮಯದ 50% ಅನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯಿರಿ.

ನಂತರ ಮರುಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ... ಇದು ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಹಂತವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಮರಣೆಯನ್ನು 3 ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ... 20% ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯಿರಿ.

Nowadays there are not mugging up.

They have there on style, passion .

Teaching someone what they learned, their own study skills - setting timetable for each subject, review periodically, summaries the notes, taking the strategy of note making, relating the topics to the environment and so on.

Smartness in studying is that important as smartness in life to tackle situations.

Good books do add into learning and knowledge but scheduling oneself according to the available resources and books, judiciously addressing 24 hours is what reaps results, the best way to synergise and taking time for every activity of the day.

Smartly studying is the result of smartly teaching the same concept by two teachers.

• Smart study is noting down the points 

• Briefing up and underlining 

• Browsing oneself from resources apart from books

• Drawing diagrams 

• Drawing inferences and conclusions

• Stressing upon case studies 

• Reading within the lines 

• Preparing notes

புத்திசாலி மாணவர்கள் சிறப்புப் புத்தகங்களைப் படிப்பதில்லை.  அவர்கள் புத்திசாலித்தனமாகப் படிக்கிறார்கள்.

Smart students will begin with noting down the syllabus topic wise to

Know what are the contents (try asking a student of XI class to name the chapters and topics involved)

This will enable him to know: if all the topics are covered in teaching or not if not ,ask, explore, until you are satisfied

Now it's the turn to tick the topics understood by self during self studies....how to check? 

Solve the questions which are asked in previous years papers of a chapter learnt by self after the teacher has covered it.

If any question looks a tricky one and you are unable to make an approach take help of the teacher, tutor or even digital resources on internet. Once satisfied go ahead....If preparing for scoring well in examination focus on the weightage given in blue prints of QPs issued by the institution and concentrate on the pattern of examination. 

A smart student knows clearly that to study well is the burden of self whether circumstances favour or not whether you got competent teachers or not whether the syllabus is covered properly by the institution because when the student goes for completion no one will omit any contents which are not taught and no excuse will be granted whatever the circumstances might have been  Whereas students who don't want to study and have no objectives will keep on blaming the school, the teacher, the facilities and much more to avoid the responsibilities of not doing well in finals. 

A smart student will tabulate the topics, make flow charts, write the highlights and make proper use of digital contents on the internet (a great resource if utilised in right manner)

உள்ளடக்கங்கள் என்ன என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள் (பதினொன்றாம் வகுப்பு மாணவரிடம் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அத்தியாயங்கள் மற்றும் தலைப்புகளுக்குப் பெயரிடச் சொல்லுங்கள்)

இது அவருக்குத் தெரிந்துகொள்ள உதவும்: எல்லா தலைப்புகளும் கற்பித்தலில் உள்ளதா இல்லையா என்பதை நீங்கள் திருப்தி அடையும் வரை கேளுங்கள், ஆராயுங்கள். இப்போது சுய ஆய்வுகளின் போது சுயமாகப் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் தலைப்புகளை டிக் செய்வது எப்படி?

முந்தைய ஆண்டு தாள்களில் கேட்கப்பட்ட கேள்விகளை ஆசிரியர் தானாகக் கற்றுக்கொண்ட பிறகு அதைத் தீர்க்கவும்.

எந்தவொரு கேள்வியும் தந்திரமானதாகத் தோன்றினால், நீங்கள் ஒரு அணுகுமுறையை உருவாக்க முடியாவிட்டால், ஆசிரியர், ஆசிரியர் அல்லது இணையத்தில் உள்ள டிஜிட்டல் ஆதாரங்களின் உதவியைப் பெறவும்.  திருப்தி அடைந்தவுடன் மேலே செல்லுங்கள்....தேர்வில் நன்றாக மதிப்பெண் பெறத் தயாராகும் பட்சத்தில், நிறுவனத்தால் வழங்கப்பட்ட QPகளின் புளூ பிரிண்ட்களில் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள வெயிட்டேஜில் கவனம் செலுத்தி, தேர்வு முறையில் கவனம் செலுத்துங்கள்.

ஒரு புத்திசாலி மாணவனுக்குத் தெளிவாகத் தெரியும், சூழ்நிலைகள் சாதகமாக இருந்தாலும் இல்லாவிட்டாலும், திறமையான ஆசிரியர்கள் கிடைத்தாலும் சரி, இல்லாவிட்டாலும் சரி, பாடத்திட்டம் கல்வி நிறுவனத்தால் சரியாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டாலும் சரி, இல்லாவிட்டாலும் சரி.  பாடம் கற்பிக்கப்படவில்லை, எந்த காரணமும் சொல்லப்படமாட்டாது.

We know that during our times also, students faired well in Exams. But during that time we had no smart notes as we have today. We never went for tuitions either. Still we did well.

That is because we all knew how to study smartly. We made a Time Table for ourselves. After school we completed our homework and ran out to play for 1 and a half hour. On our return we would wash our hands and face, did the evening prayer, had milk and snacks and studied for 2 and a half hours. We were not distracted by phones etc. 

Today also those kids do well who value time. They make Time Table for themselves and set targets. 

Next they focus on their weak and strong subjects. They pair their subjects as one strong and one weak one.

Monday....English and Science 

Tuesday.....2nd Language and Social Science and so on and so forth and practise Maths everyday.

Saturday and Sunday could be kept for revising the chapters completed in that week by solving the Sample Papers.

So time needs to be respected for Smart Study.

புத்திசாலி மாணவர்கள் சிறப்புப் புத்தகங்களைப் படிப்பதில்லை.  அவர்கள் புத்திசாலித்தனமாகப் படிக்கிறார்கள்.

நம் காலத்திலும் மாணவர்கள் தேர்வில் சிறந்து விளங்கினர் என்பதை நாம் அறிவோம்.  ஆனால் அந்தக் காலத்தில் இன்று இருப்பது போல் ஸ்மார்ட் நோட்டுகள் இல்லை.  நாம் டியூஷன் போனதில்லை.  ஆனாலும் நாம் நன்றாக செய்தோம்.

அதற்குக் காரணம், நாம் அனைவரும் புத்திசாலித்தனமாகப் படிக்கத் தெரிந்ததே.  நாங்களே டைம் டேபிளை உருவாக்கினோம்.  பள்ளி முடிந்ததும் நாங்கள் எங்கள் வீட்டுப்பாடத்தை முடித்துவிட்டு, ஒன்றரை மணி நேரம் விளையாட வெளியே ஓடினோம்.  திரும்பும்போது கை, முகம் கழுவி, மாலை பூஜை செய்து, பாலும் சிற்றுண்டியும் சாப்பிட்டு இரண்டரை மணி நேரம் படிப்போம்.  தொலைபேசிகள் போன்றவற்றால் நாங்கள் திசைதிருப்பப்படவில்லை.

இன்றும் அந்தச் சிறுவர்கள் நேரத்தை மதிப்பவர்களாகச் சிறப்பாகச் செயல்படுகிறார்கள்.  அவர்களுக்கென டைம் டேபிளை உருவாக்கி, இலக்குகளை நிர்ணயிக்கிறார்கள்.

அடுத்து அவர்கள் தங்கள் பலவீனமான மற்றும் வலுவான பாடங்களில் கவனம் செலுத்துகிறார்கள்.  அவர்கள் தங்கள் பாடங்களை ஒரு வலுவான மற்றும் ஒரு பலவீனமான ஒன்றாக இணைக்கிறார்கள்.

திங்கள்....ஆங்கிலம் மற்றும் அறிவியல்

செவ்வாய்..... 2வது மொழி மற்றும் சமூக அறிவியல் மற்றும் பலவற்றை தினமும் கணிதம் பயிற்சி செய்யுங்கள்.

மாதிரி தாள்களைத் தீர்ப்பதன் மூலம் அந்த வாரத்தில் முடிக்கப்பட்ட அத்தியாயங்களைத் திருத்துவதற்கு சனி மற்றும் ஞாயிறு வைக்கலாம்.

எனவே ஸ்மார்ட் ஸ்டடிக்கு நேரத்தை மதிக்க வேண்டும்.
